Just wondering why the these vary so much in quality. For example many have half the holes in the base, they don't have a country of origin on the filter or the box only the original shipping box.

Here is a example.

Notice the fuel filter only has 4 holes vs the US version which has 8 larger holes. Would these not now have a different flow rating?

Now on the oil filter, it has only 6 holes while the US and EU versions have 10.

The construction of these seems to be of lower quality.

Any opinions?

We've seen all kinds of nastiness in MB filters that some companies took to Asia versus making in Germany.

These are filters sold at the Fleetguard vendor in the Philippines not the US. I only use the made in USA ones, I brough this topic up for some of my friends over there. The Baldwin filters sold there are still the good old main in the USA but the Fleetguards are mixed depending on what filter number you get. You can get the US ones or these South east asia made filters or they have plenty of China knockoff there.

This particular filter is does not fit any US vehicles so is pretty much not found very often in the states.

Probably counterfeit/knock-offs. No markings anywhere on the filter or box is scary.

Well here's the deal with that, Fleetguard sent me photos of the same filters also no country of origin. This was from their Singapore distrubution center. The ones I posted are what they state are made in Malaysia and that they are working with them to have the silk screening univesal.

I always tell people no country of orign it's a fake but it turns out this time it's not, But the filter quality is lower and they are not made the same.

These were sent to me direcly from Fleetguard service manager.

Here is a example of the Malaysian made ones. Notice the glue looks like it's melting out of the filter.

wow, the darker media one looks looks like the el cheapo auto xtra or prontos

and the lighter colored media one is what i would expect.

I would stop buying that part number or fleetguard if I ever opened one up and it looked like that.

+1 to to the knock off theory.
