Fleetguard fuel filter change

Fleetguard makes good fuel filters. Yours held up well. Are both of yours really messy to change? Only reason I took in the F-350 last time due to not wanting fuel all over me b/c the frame rail filter seems to keep gushing fuel out when filters out. Cost me $100!

I drain the water separator into small container and remove it. The secondary filter is a bit more of a mess but all in I avoid any spills and it takes about 3 quarts of fuel I’m guessing. I’m in for around $25 for both under bed filters.
The under hood filter is way more expensive. It was about $85 from the local Peterbilt dealer. It’s not messy either. Priming the system after is the biggest pita.

That is correct Stude. Fleetguard only on my Cummins Ram for oil and fuel.

I have pressure gauges on my 2 add on diesel fuel filters, helps tell me when I should change them
I have Ram Cummins 5.9 engine.
I just changed my tertiary from 1R0750 AHE to Cat 416-1225 UHE filter, it's a nice big filter. 1-14 thread and about $47 direct from CAT.
The Cat 1R0750 finally dropped the psi in half and I think that was too much pressure drop, in future will change the tertiary more often.
I run a primary 33118 Wix 1-12 thread down on the frame rail by the tank and kept my OEM filter mounted on motor. and being a coarser filter, it seems to never clog up., that is what the gauge tells me.

And, both filter heads are steel nipple, not aluminum. CAT fuel filters have aluminum base plates and if you thread aluminum on aluminum they easily gall and weld together, so dont do that.
This head is a Wix 24770 1-14 thread, the other is a DD 60 series head, I got for free at a marina.
