what is the exact same filter as the fl500s in different paint or name brand? Going to buy a case of filters and the Champ PH500xl appears to be the same as the motorcraft but 1 dollar less per filter.

Look like two different filters to me. FL500 looks like Purolator made while Champ is going to be Champion Labs. Champ states Buick Enclave, Lacrosse (2011-16) Dodge/Jeep V6 3.7L (2009-12), Ford Products V6 (2009-16) (Chrysler 5184231AA).

I use the Fram website for the easiest way to cross filters. If you put any competitors filter in their search it will show the Fram equivalent and then you can look at their list of applications. If both filters cross to the same Fram and your application is on the list then youre probably good.
