First UOA, unknown oil baseline for 2004 LX 470

Not much interesting info here, but figured I'd share anyway.

I tested the oil in this vehicle as I received it since I plan to have it for a long time, and to have a starting point to compare the next UOA to.

Oil type is unknown, but based on the dirt cheap Mighty Guard filter, I'm guessing it was some similarly cheap 5w30. Mileage on this oil probably isn't too excessive since the previous owners seemed to be good about maintenance, but the age is up there since it was well over a year after buying before I had time to start working on it.

Testing was done by Oil Analyzers Inc. via Amsoil. Follow up should be in about a month since I have a long trip coming up.

Agreed that it might be a 30 grade. Good idea to see what you started with here to compare with next test. Does this have V8 or V6?

That one has the legendary 4.7L V8 (2UZ-FE) engine, the only engine offered in US.
Overseas they got a few versions of 4.2L inline-six diesel to play with.

Thanks, I think I just watched a MotorWeek retro review on that recently. NM it was the Land Cruiser. Do you know if it was the same V8 engine that went into the Land Cruiser?

Yup, LX 470 and 100-series Land Cruiser are mostly the same vehicle.

J120 body, and Prado in general, did have more engine options. But LC100, like the 2004 LX470 in question, was more limited on engine options with just those I mentioned.

You were referring to GX470. That body in Europe and other markets is sold as Prado.
In Europe, it was, as far as I know, strictly coming with D-4D. Which was not a thrill in many aspects.

Nope, I was referring to LX470. Same as big Land Cruiser 100, not the smaller Prado.

As far as the 120 Prado (European twin of GX470), that one came with three different diesels over the years, all three in 3.0L displacement. And had gasoline options from two different 2.7L 4-bangers, 3.4L and later 4.0L V6, and the 4.7L V8 obviously.

It depends on the market where it was sold. Europe was getting diesel, yes, with different power levels and some modifications as they constantly had issues. I think, I think, it had V6 gas option, but no one was buying that.
The posts above yours nowhere mention LX470, only GX470. You mentioned LX470 later and LC. So, that is why I was referring to Prado only.

I see. I was referring to LX470 the whole time due to the thread title: "...2004 LX 470"

Definitely over 5,000, but I don't think the previous owners had the last oil change in the records they gave me. I'd guess around 10,000.
