Got bored today and decided to do my first change on the Frantz toilet paper oil filter. I'ts a little early, i'm supposed to go 3000 miles per roll, but was curious how things were doing. This
change is at 1322 miles and I wanted to see if there was any metal comming off my new engine. Not a speck!!
I'm also running Amsoil 10w30 synthetic. Here is a picture of the oil samples today. I"m impressed!

The scraping off the inlet side of the TP filter is pretty nasty, and I"m running a Napa Gold long GM filter on the engine too. The TP filter really seems to be getting a lot of the small crap that the regular spin on cannot filter out.

Interesting comparison. I have squeezed the TP to get out what the filter is holding on to, and the difference is amazing. My diesel tractor filter gets heavy and is coal black after 50 hours. The sump oil after 100 hours has a black tinge to it on the dipstick, but I can still see through to the dipstick markings.
I'm doing 2000 mile intervals on the wife's van and my truck now, but may go to 3000 miles since they have seen synthetic most of their miles and are clean running.

Yesterday I chaged the TP of Frantz oil filter after 2087.4 miles on the Mobil 1 5W30 oil. The colors of used oil in the crankcase and TP resembled to those in the photo.

My question is: If I keep the original oil up to 18k miles with TP changed every 2k miles, will the oil in the crankcase get much darker? Should I be concerned about the darkening color of oil in the long run?
