First snake of the year

My favorite snake as far as color and design. Wouldn't want my dog to run across him though. Actually my previous dog was the one that found him on the lawn. Somehow stayed back though.

I've never seen either of these in the wild but I think they're pretty. We have mostly spotted kings around here. I was home trucking for my Dad one harvest bout 2008 and I came in one night and my mother told me she killed a cottonmouth under the carport that afternoon. She said it was out by the burn barrel because I didn't believe her. It was a spotted king.

That looks like a Mohave Green, or Mojave Green in California. There is nothing for perspective, but it looks like big one.
these were both in Western Montana..the rattlesnake was one of the biggest ones I have come across..I wanted to poke it with a stick but my wife wouldn't let me lol....I wish I could post a video of the gopher snake..it was rattling its tail like a rattlesnake. We have lots of bigger gopher snakes and rattlesnakes have started becoming more frequent as it has gotten drier over the years.

Looks like I need to amend my definition of green colored snakes.. I had heard that they were called "grass" snakes, but Danno has it correct. Either way, they're a beautiful snake.
