Spotted this 7ft long gopher snake this morning while working on my property this morning.

What a beautiful snake! Hopefully he/she is ready to go after the rodents that eat wires in cars .

About 1/4 of all the grain produced in the world is eaten by rodents. Many of the snakes in southeast Asia have been wiped out due to habitat destruction and human predation. Now they are overrun by rodents.
Thats why the harmless snakes around my place get to stay. Rattlers get relocated to the farthest corner from my house.

I had to kill a crazy black snake last year that was about six feet long. I was pulling weeds in the garden when it came at me. I used the hoe and threw it way out of the garden three times and it kept coming back after me so I cut it's head off and tossed it over by the fence line. About an hour or so later when I got done I went over to look at it and something had stripped all the meat off of it and left nothing but a skeleton. Not a fan of snakes or spiders.

I ran one over with the deere 850 last year luckily it was the rear wheel not the mower.. snake zoomed off.. so maybe ok.
they are big high flotation turf tires with 8psi.

Up in the woods, a 6' black snake opened a bathroom cabinet, from the inside, to take a drink from the wet shower stall.
I looped a string around its head and dragged it outside to relocate it. I too appreciate snakes.
Passers by saw me and for a while I was the guy seen "out walking his snake".

The beefiness of the pictured rattler is impressive.

How big can they get in your area? I spent allot of time in parts of Texas where it’s dry - yet the deer and snakes are bigger …
