have a casual interview and conversation with the person and try to determine within a 30 minute interview whether they'd want to work with the person on a day-to-day basis.

+1

I do first round, on campus recruiting for entry level engineers and scientists and this is as good a two sentence description of my approach as I could write. We do of course use some of the behavioral interviewing techniques and whatnot but ultimately it's about whether the person is qualified (we pre-screen so this is usually a given) and if they'd be a good fit for the organization.

Bring a copy of your resume.
Bring a copy of Job announcement.
Have 3 good questions about the company, your potential job (not compensation related), write them down.
If you have any job-related certifications, bring them.
If job requires driving, pay $10 to get a copy of your driving record.
Wear suit and tie, come 5-10 minutes early (interview is at 12, you need to be in the conference room at 11:50). Do not come too early. You will get overly anxious, and interviewers will feel pressured to accommodate you and start earlier.
Sit up, do not slouch in the chair.
Make eye contact will all members of the interviewing committee, not just whose question you are answering.

I interviewed hundreds of people over the last 10 years, These are things that stick in mind.

Thanks guys.
I spent some time today and looked up questions on Google, that may be asked of me. Got some good answers for all of them, at least I have a general idea of what may be asked.
Also I have some questions wrote down to ask them.
Have a few copies of my resume and references. Going to go iron some black suit pants and a blue dress shirt and polish my shoes. Also going to get my hair cut this evening too.

The hospital that I'm going to is one that cooperates with the school I went to. I did my orientation there before I was in the program and also did a week there last summer during my clinicals. The person I have the interview with I spent some time with while it was slow there. She is very nice, so I'm hoping all goes well. I have to go early and go to HR and fill out some paper work she said.
Interview is supposed to be at 11:30, I'm going to get there at 11 so I can fill all the paperwork out and then go for the interview.

Even if its per diem a few days per week, take it and get your foot in the door. Its good that this lady already knows you and your work ethic.

Knowing as much as reasonably possible about the target organization is important.

Googling yourself is important. Hopefully you won't have the problem I do, which is finding that someone else with your exact first/last name is out there, and acts like an idiot on Facebook, etcetera. I have cringed many times thinking that prospective employers have Googled me and thought that that guy is me.

Who you know is the most important thing--and always will be--in this process. A drug addict covered in fleas and feces who never worked a day in his life, but who knows the right person, will beat you almost every time. The euphemism used for this is "networking".

Confidence
Eye contact
Good language and communication.
If you're good.... it will come through.

Best of luck!!

Well I think the interview went pretty well. I was the first one they interviewed. They have a few more interviews in the next week or two scheduled and I have to wait on the background check and all. She said for me to give them a couple weeks and they will give me a call to let me know.

They have 2 "as needed" shifts left. The full and part time was just filled, but hey I'll take anything to just get my foot in the door.
The hospital I did my clinicals at may have a full time and part time positions open up in the next month. So I'm going to apply for that too when that opens up.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions everybody!

Personally I find the modern interview process a complete waste of time all around.

I think HR needs to justify themselves by coming up with obscure questions, techniques etc. When in the end getting to know the person and a few concise questions from an interviewer can nail a person.

I found most interviewers sadly would go out on the internet to find the standard questions asked. Sad....
