Film Noir: Early Kubrick

Film Noir, like jazz, can be so, so good.
Alas, the genre' name has been misapplied to some bad, black and white movies. Hey, it happens.

Stars Sterling Hayden. not Alan Ladd , I've seen it before, A standard run of the mill Film noir. Crime and punishment

I will give it a look. I enjoyed Sunset Boulevard with William Holden.

That's a good one with an interesting plot if you are into the minutia of the planning of a heist. Kubric was the master of detail. He must have been in his 20s when he directed that. The movie was partially shot in the Bay Area at the Bay Meadows racetrack.
