I never used to, but now I always fill my oil filters as much as possible before installing them.
This shortens the time that my engine has no oil pressure, and also the filter media has been 'wetted' with oil before it gets mashed by the pressure. Probably dosen't matter but it gives me a good piece of mind.
Also...about the unfiltered oil issue...well; I dont know about you guys, but I have to add my oil through the valve cover..witch means this unfiltered oil gets dumped all over at least one of my cams & some of the shims. (Unfiltered oil is going to hit my engine either way). I think the oil coming out of the bottle is the cleaneset it will ever be anyways.
