Are you guys still filling up the tank? I don't mean you guys that bill it to your expense account; I mean you guys that pay for it out of your pocket. I'm thinking if $50 don't fill the tank up anymore, why bother? Why not just put XX amount of dollars into it and forget it? I know I'm getting ripped off either way, but I feel like I'm getting more ripped off by filling the tank up.

Okay, that's one vote against filling at a set dollar amount.

I fill it up to the brim. just like Shannow said, it's going to cost more on the next fill up.

I haven't even started my Pajero in 3 months - guess that diesel was pretty cheap eh? My free pushbike has paid for itself 1,ooo times over.

I don't fill up...I put X amount in now. It is a reminder for me to constantly look at the gauge. I do this in an effort to drive less. If I have a full tank, I won't be as aware of how much I'm driving.

I always fill'er up! And it ain't gona drop to $2.00 over night. 02 Cents at a time maybe! But not $2.00. And heres a quick story. When we travel by car out of state and the fuel needle starts to approach the 1/4 tank mark, I start looking for the next turn off of the highway and I fill'er up. I don't concern my self too much with price at this point. I'll look for the best price in the clump of stations at the turnoff but will not drive out of my way thereafter to save a few cents per gal. Just want to fill'er up and get on my way again. Maybe get some food and use the R/R but thats it! I tell my kids the same thing when there traveling on the highway out of state. "Get gas, check the oil/tires get some food, rest if you need to and go"! Fill'er up!

I'd be hugely happy if it DROPPED to $4.50/gal overnight (from $5.80 for regular, and $6.70 for diesel)

Fill 'er up. Due to my pessimistic gas gauge, thats only about 12-13 gallons a whack. As I dont use the car for commuting anymore, it isn't too often, thankfully.

I try to explain to my wife that fewer trips to the gas station is less usage, so fill it up. She does 20 dollars a pop. It costs 100 to do my truck if it's low.

I've started putting in enough to cover the week ahead (7-9 gallons) with 1/4 tank as a reserve. Once a month, fill it to the top. I try to pay with cash, so that I won't have an outstanding bill hanging over my head.

Of course, if a hurricane wanders into the Gulf, I'm going to be sure to keep the tank at 3/4 tank or more. . . .

I live two blocks from a gas station. There are two more gas stations within a ten block radius. There are at least six more gas stations along my usual route.

My thoughts exactly. If I don't have enough cash, obviously I only put in what I can, but otherwise, fill it right up.

Technically, due to the added weight, wouldn't you get better fuel economy if you did NOT fill up your tank? For me, my truck holds 30 gallons of gas. At 6+ lbs per gallon, I'm carrying around 180 lbs of fuel when my tank is full. I wonder how much that decreases fuel economy, versus say only carrying around 13 gallons (78 lbs)... Just curious...

For me personally, I fill up every time I get gas. Unfortunately, it currently takes about $135 to fill'er up!!! And that nets me about 330 miles. Yikes!
