Fibrous debris possibly found in my engine oil

One way to tell if they came from your oil filter is to open it up and see if there is anything unusual / missing. I have seen some media poke its way through the center tube.

Did you save the mystery substance? A filter company would know right away if it was media or not.

The last time my 98 Corolla had its oil changed, they put in a Parts Master filter. I'm changing it myself now and I've found a couple small clumps of fine, fibrous debris in the oil. The filter itself looks fine and clean. There were a couple fibers around the drain plug, so maybe it was debris from the road that got stuck on the underside, but I'm worried that the oil filter came apart a bit and that's what it is. I'm also not sure they didn't come off my glove or something.

I have no extra oil-pan gaskets if those would be needed, and my shop recommended that I not drop the oil pan myself unless I am "mechanically inclined." Should I worry about this, or should I just finish the oil change and go on driving?
