I wonder why there are no diesel minivans in US, I've seen so many in Europe-those would make ultimate family trip car.
P.S. just checked jeep website, there is 2014 GC with 3.0L eco diesel

You don’t see diesel minivans here because we have super strict diesel emissions requirements stemming from a prejudice against dirty diesels of the 60s and 70s. That and our gasoline is far cheaper than it is in many European countries.

Diesels are always going to be more expensive with all of the emissions equipment they need.

It's sad. I LOVE diesel..torque, fuel milage, (most have) better reliability than the gassers, easier to tune then gassers.

Jeep Grand Cherokee is quite expensive when I tried to configure. But it has heated perforated leather trimmed seats, double sun roofs,4x4, big screen with NAV, HID lights and lots of other bells and whistles. Price was around $46K.
I think diesel Fiat 500 will be around 21-22K Like base Abarth, electric one marked right under $32k, which they clame is the best for the range and charging time. But for that price I can get Leaf which is much bigger, but less range. Even better used Leaf with up to 30k miles for $15-22K

P.S. The Fiat 500 by DIESEL price for Britain is starts at 11,400 pounds, so I hope they will not go on pricing rampage in US.

What price is going to go for? Don't see anything about price on the site.

Ummmm... isn't this news a little old? The article is from 2011.

It's near the point that you can buy a diesel Grand Cherokke at your local Jeep dealer.

I think it's safe to say that, yes, Jeep will be getting a Multiair II diesel engine in 2013.

Yes, it will also be stupid-expensive. Base price of $41,000 and if you want it in 4WD (like God intended every Jeep to be), it'll set you back over $46,000.

Works out if you are Jeep and diesel fan, and want to keep car forever
