That said, the 426 is my favorite.

Boss 9 heads are much better than street Hemi heads.
They flow more and have a more efficient chamber.

Oh yeah? Well my dad can kick your dad's [censored]!

Don't get all uptight on me now. Just introducing a little humor into an opinionated topic. There are no right answers here!

This video is funny, Jon Kasse reintroduced the 427 SOHC back in 2015 using all new parts. On pump gas, it makes 825HP.

He loves doing BOSS 9's like this one though:

The old 426 Hemi is my favorite. The top two Dragracing classes still use engines based on the architecture of the Elephant motor.

440 Mopar. Gathering up parts to build a 440 based 512. Should be fun.

I've also built lots of 496, 511 and 540" big block chevys years ago. Used to build offshore speed boat engines. The chevys were cool but Mopars will always be my favorite.

383/440 Chrysler. What other engine could power a muscle car,an Imperial Luxo-barge,a truck,RV,boat, stationary generator...and do it with decades of reliable service? Pick out all those 68 RoadRunners and 69 Chargers with original, modified engines....

All the Big 3 Big Blocks were good engines, Mark IV Chevy, 385 Ford, & B/RB Chrysler. I'm not sure if I classify FE Fords as a big block? The 426 Street Hemi could barely be considered a true "Production" engine.

I classify small blocks as.....Small Block Chevy, Windsor Ford, LA Chrysler.

I'm just weird like that.....

The FE engine article on Wikipedia classifies it as a medium block.

I do 4wd. Drag raced a hemi from 69-73 in a 64 dodge Polaris 220. My automotive chassis teacher back in 72 let me drive his 1969 Mach 1 with the boss 429 one time at Atco drag strip. What a treat that was. The truth is i loved all Detroit big blocks.
