I'd have to say it's between Autozone, and Advance Auto, for me. I live in a small town, about 8000 pop., and we have an Autozone, Oreillys, and a NAPA. The closest Advance Auto is 25 miles away.
Last week, I decided to do a brake job on my 93 Silverado. I already had the brake shoes. I needed new rotors, new brake cylinders, all new hardware, some brake cleaner, and some brake fluid. I looked up everything on Advance Auto's site, added it to my cart, and used the coupon codes, to knock almost 40% off. I printed out my list, with the prices, and took it to Autozone, to see if they would price-match it. The said that if the warranties were the same, that they would. Some of the parts were even different brands. Anyways, I walked out with everything, for less than a hundred bucks! Some of the stuff was less than half of full price! I even got a few credits towards my Rewards card. They have always been helpful whenever I go in there.
O'reillys on the other hand is a different story. Young kids, that don't know shart. High prices. Lot's of OOS stuff. I've heard, "We'll have it, on Tuesday, when the truck comes.", too many times. The only thing I buy in there, is Lubegard Red. It's the only place around here that carries it. I try to stay out of there.
NAPA. Mostly older gentlemen working in there. They DO kow there stuff. Sometimes they come across a little arrogant, or blow you off. They mostly like to cater to the auto repair shops. NAPA has been around here waaay before the big box stores came to town. They're the original "hometown" store, and I try to use them. I do buy my batteries there.
Like I said, Advance Auto is 25 miles away. I do use them, primarily because of the 40% coupons, and there sales. I do like there employees. They don't always have, what I think should be common, in stock. But since I got Autozone to PM, I'm going to keep doing business at Autozone.

+2 Advance is number one....IMO....followed by NAPA, Auto Zone and Car Quest.

There are no O'Reilly's in my hood....just as well stay out after looking at the latest deals.

However, to their credit, I did get an excellent deal on some Mobil Super Synthetic for $3 a quart last Spring in Orland and there was no limit to how much you wanted to buy. So, I naturally loaded up on that deal.

My favorite local place would have to be Napa. They have a couple younger guys in there, but they really seem to be on top of things. They have a good selection of products and sell my favorite brands: Timken, Moog, Wix, ect.

Autozone is awful. The last time I was in there the lady behind the counter had the name of three different guys tattooed on her neck. I spent more time trying to work out if they were her kids or previous partners. Either way, it will be on the Wednesday truck.

Advance is OK; I do like the online discounts. When I last replaced my shocks, it was cheaper to just order everything from Desert Rat rather than placing my four separate orders with 40% off though.

My favorite online place would have to be AutoPartsTomorrow.com. They have really good prices and great customer service. Orders over $50 get free overnight shipping. Oh, and if your order doesn’t get to you the next day, it is free. On one of my orders, I used the wrong part number – my fault – that caused a delay with my order. It was only a day, but I still got everything for free. The downside is that there is always something out of stock. Oh, and the website format: I find it easiest to just type in the part number I am looking for.

Yeah Gabe. NAPA does have higher quality parts. The guys at mine are pretty knowledgeable, too. Your Autozone sounds like my O'reillys!!!
I'll have to check out that website. Never been there before. I have used Rockauto before, and have had good results with them. The only problem I've run it to is, if you buy quite a few things, they seem to come out of different warehouses, therefore the shipping costs go up.

Napa for nostalgia reasons. Purchased my first S&K socket set there when I was 16. I went back 32 years later and they had the same 3 counter guys I remembered, but with very white hair!

Rock Auto for online purchases. Times have changed....

Some 15 years ago or more there used to be independent mom and pop auto stores that you would patronize because they had all 3 elements: good employees, good parts, and good prices.

It's rare to find that anymore with the "big box" mentality that we have developed. So, I tend to shop at the store that has the best parts I want at the best price. NAPA, Car Quest, Advanced Auto, and occasionally Auto Zone (love their tool loan program and late night hours). Sometimes I hit the lesser know chains (Auto Value, Parts Plus), i.e., they recently had Moog tie rod ends much cheaper than anyone else.

I miss developing a working relationship with establishments. Big Box sucks.

Well in my town we have napa ,Oreillys, advanced auto. And one town over autozone. Autozone and aap are usually stupid and clueless. But have decent deals. The oriellys is great. I go in there sometimes just to chat. I'm friends with all of them. They all know there stuff and they will price match anything for me. And when my old car broke down by there I walked in and was seeing if they had the part it was some dumb sensor on the mx3 I had they ordered it because yhey didn't have it . Drug my car with his truck so it was off the road and gave me a ride home. So I go there the service Is great. Napa is fine decent everything buy stupid hours and expensive

I don't know if NAPA parts are much better anymore.

I bought a NAPA cap and rotor for my Nissan several years ago. They were made in Japan. When I replaced them again last year, they were made in China.

I don't have one I'm more loyal to. I buy my parts based on the price vs. quality. Frequently I buy parts online, but there are times when you need a part and don't want to wait.

O'Reilly and Advance are close. I get my filters almost exclusively from AAP, but get a lot of stuff from O'Reilly's. Have used O'Reilly's since 1967, when I lived in Springfield, MO, where their headquarters is located. I live on the edge of Kansas City, so waiting for parts is not much of an issue. They can pull stock from three different warehouses, so my wait to get a particular part is generally next day delivery, worst case. Many times, if I order by 9 am, it is at my store by noon. I pick it up on the way home from work. Autozone is a distant third, and I do very little business with them. NAPA went out of business in my area about ten years ago, when O'Reilly's and Autozone came into the area. My mechanic uses Carquest, so I indirectly support them, but their hours are a bit inconvenient and their prices don't seem to be overly competitive.

AAP all day long. The AZ across the street is always out of what I need, they don't carry some of the items they put on sale in their flyers and more importantly they are more expensive. I went in there (AZ) to get some stuff once and I brought some oil with me to recycle it, I had to wait 10 minutes for the manager to "OK" it then they asked exactly how much I had then they started SMELLING THE BOTTLES!!!! It was like I was a criminal. At AAP I just walk in the back and dump my oil. After the AZ recycling experience I have never been back. The parking lot is empty every time I go by so I am obviously not the only one that thinks they suuk.

I always check Carquest, because sometimes their prices are the lowest.

They can have good prices on import car parts, because of their connection to Worldpac.

I've got a Napa, AZ PB and Oreilly's within 2 miles of me. I try and buy from all of them for those things I do not want to wait for from online, or do not trust to mail order, or is the same price as mail order anyway when shipping is included.

The Napa has the most knowledgeable sales people and the highest prices. It always takes too long to buy something and get out of the store. I have ridden my Skateboard there on numerous occassions.

PB is the biggest, and carries my Purolator 30001, but I do not buy auto parts there, just accessories.
O'reillys/ Kragen has accepted my lifetime alternator warranty numerous times no questions asked, and gotten me parts the next day they did not have in stock.

The AZ is the smallest of the 3, pretty tiny. They seriously inconvenienced me once when they claimed to have a chrysler 2 9/64" ball joint socket to rent and met me with blank stares days later when I appeared in the store requesting said tool. I wound up having to buy one online and wait for it to arrive before beginning my suspension rebuild and missed some work and other engagements. Anybody want to buy it? OTC brand.

So no favorite, but I like AZ's website the best.

Rockauto has saved me a lot of money.

Amazon also has also surprised me, and I always check every site/ store to see who has the brand I want at the best price, shipping/ free shipping and instant satisfaction factors included.

Amazon has Moog Idler arms for 30 dollars cheaper than RA and included free shipping. They are in the mail now.

The thing with "big box" auto parts stores is that it is entirely dependent on the quality of the employees. The parts these companies sell are similar in many ways , however in my opinion O'reilly's does have better parts. O'reilly's does stock BWD , MOOG and Wix filters which are a favorite of mine , something AAP and AZ do not. NAPA is hit or miss as well as it is franchised and can vary on inventory and management/employees by store. AAP does have a amazing website however , which gives them a real boost in sales. Pepboys is a big player as well , decent parts and a in house service shop staffed by ASE techs. Overall it comes down to what store is better stocked and which has the better employees at that specific location. No "big box" stores really beat each other at quality , price or expertise , it is entirely dependent on the man/woman behind the counter and the expertise and sound advise they can provide to the customer. This is coming from a ASE Parts Specialist.

I'm not impressed with O'Reilly's; their 'specials' aren't and their regular prices are higher then AAP.

I've paid a lot higher prices at AZ over AAP, because I was in the 'hood at the time.

I'm in a small city. 15-20 miles to either AZ or AAP.
Two 'old style' auto parts stores, NAPA and locally owned three store chain with a store in my city.

O'Reilly's recently opened up a store here, did some good business for a while. The NAPA store started being open on Sat. afternoon and Sun afternoon, so that's a good side effect.
Business at the O'Reilly's is down some, they've been expanding a lot in my state and may have jumped into TO SMALL a city for them.
