2 turnin' and 2 burnin' right. I was at an airshow, 25 years ago or so and took a tour inside one. Seems like I remember to get fore and aft inside you had to slide over the wing spar going through the fuselage.

I have not walked around it, but have seen it fly over a few times recently. I thought I was halucinating.

The wing spar was a good place to nap on 10-12 hour patrols. I flew as the 2nd mechanic and spent most of my time either in the jump seat in the cockpit or in the bow. yes, 2 burnin and 2 turnin. Two R 3350 radials and two J 34 jets. I was a jet mech but often worked on the radials.

Yeah, I like the B-1B, but I will have to agree with Astro14, hard to beat a workhorse like the F-14 Tomcat

Always have loved planes, especially WW2 and newer, even tho I'm not a pilot.

I'll vote for the P-38 Lightning, the "fork-tailed devil" and the tool of our top WW2 ace, Richard Bong!

Awesome. We had a couple Neptune air tankers in my area this summer dropping fire retardant. The sound of those babies flying over my house literally sent shivers up my spine.

Don't they still hold distance records?

The R3350 used on the Neptune had 3 turbos per engine. Great aircraft.

Yes it did hold a long distance flight record. 4th paragraph down.

I have always been a fan of ww2 fighters. The p38 "fork tailed devil" is just a cool plane. And the Spitfire. And lets not forget the FW190 and ME109 were excellent planes also.

This along with the Horton 18 has to be one of my favourite planes based only on the technology.
Along with the ME262 and Stealth fighter they would have been a game changer if someone wasn't asleep at the switch and implemented them sooner.

The Russian PAK FA looks interesting also.

So many favorites that it's impossible to have just one. But for me, I'll categorize them as follows. WW1 era: Se5a. In between the wars: Boeing P-26 Pea Shooter. WW2: P-40, P-38, Focke Wulf FW-190, Hawker Typhoon/Tempest, Bristol Beau-fighter. Post War: B-36 Peacemaker, P-80 Shooting Star, Lockhead Constellation. The Fifties/sixties: F-86 Saber, B-47, BAC Lightning, F-4 Phantom, Republic F-105 Thunderchief, Avro Vulcan.
Currently? 747SP (and all 747 models), A10, F/A18, B1-B.
Probably at least thirty plus more to list from WW1 to now. Like I said, way too many favorites.
