Whole bunch of political statements being put in. I didnt lock it, but I saw the complaints from a bunch of users.

Isn't it obvious that if someone has to ask, then it isn't obvious?
Reminds of the bit where the student says to to the profession, I don't understand how that's obvious, the professor turns back and looks at the board for a moment and then declares, yes it's obvious.

I just read that whole thread. I don't get it either, locking it does seem a bit over the top unless some post have been removed.

I didn't see any political statements either. The closest to politics are some quotes from Reagan and Churchill, but those were pretty general and/or historical in nature. Nothing remotely controversial or advocating a particular point of view IMHO.

There were quite a few political comments, many of which were removed from the thread. Again, I didn't lock it or move posts out, but I did see the user complaints and it was quite obvious that there were digs at stuff that are hot-button political issues that people had injected in.
Even in this thread, the discussion starts right back up about the "most hated one" and about his successor. Thinly failed political discussion. This isn't very hard to comprehend. And people have been banned, some for very long times if not forever for ignoring it.
