Factory Ford Ranger Oil Filter C&P

Morning Gents,
This is the factory filter from my 2020 Ford Ranger. It had 1070 miles on it when changed. I dropped the filter element in the sand so ignore any debris on it. Overall looks like a decent filter. A Motorcraft FL-910S went back on the Ranger with 6.2 qts of Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30.

Seem to recall getting to the oil filter involves the driver side wheel well. Did you have much trouble getting to it? If you can give us a review of the truck if you don’t mind.

Looks like a lower-end Wix, like a Napa Silver or Proselect

Of course, the ones you buy at the dealer are Purolator. Even both Wix and Purolator are owned by Mann now, they are still mostly separate.

I agree. I hate where ford decided to put the filter on the Rangers also. We run AUTO EXTRA 618-51348 on them

The filter is in the wheel well but was not the PITA that I expected. I turned the wheel all the way to the right, took down the splash guard and there it was. Crack it loose so the oil will drain into the catch pan and oil guide. Remove when drained. Easier than my Daughter's 3.7L Jeep Liberty.

It does; I've done oil changes on a couple of them at work. Kinda silly design if I'm being honest, but don't forget that this is basically a North American port of a design that's been on sale in ROW markets since 2011 or so, plus I don't think it was originally intended to ever accept the Duratec/MZR family; I also think not having th filter in a place where it could be bashed open by rocks or other trail hazards was also a consideration.

On the other hand, the sluice is in the right place and actually works (unlike the Mickey Mouse piece they put on the old mod motor trucks many moons ago).
