Curious if anybody has information on “long term” (say, 200k miles) reliability on the 2.7L eco boost and ten speed auto combinations from Ford?

Probably a Ford F150 website would have more information. [Still new] There are many 2.7 on the road and it seems that we would be hearing if there was lots of problems . I have a 2015 with 45,000 miles which is not many though I enjoy the engine.

There is the one I think everyone has seen that is well north of 300,000 miles now, but that is a 6 speed auto I believe. Still not hearing of many issues even as the miles are starting to pile on some these going back to the 2015 F150.

Personally, I've got 62,000 miles on my 2016 F150 with the 2.7. The truck runs circles around the '04 with the 5.4 it replaced in nearly every way except for engine sound. I do miss the V8 burble, but driving this truck still puts a smile on my face when I get on it...

My honest advice to people with an open mind on the engines, and who aren't chasing huge towing numbers is to have the dealer let you test drive the engines you have interest in, and then don't tell you which is which. I did that and ended up buying the 2.7... (It was between the two ecoboosts for me though - the V8 may be a little more obvious :) )

Test driving the 2.7L and the 3.5L (not towing) I couldn't tell the difference. I actually preferred the 2.7L for fuel economy, but ended up with the 3.5L because it was very difficult to find a 2.7L with the Lariat Ultimate package in my area.

I test drove the 2.7L before buying my Ram, and I have to say it was a most impressive engine considering it's diminutive displacement! I probably would have driven one home if my local Ford guy had taken me seriously when I said, "I'm buying a truck this week, give me your best price". . .he clearly didn't and I have no regrets. I'm not a brand guy, I'm a truck guy. Love my Ram!

I'm a truck guy as well. My wife wants a bigger camper, but that moves us into a 3/4 ton and although I tow my Jeep (5500 lbs) or 5 ATV's on my trailer, a half ton has always served me well (even hauling two cord of oak just in town 11,000lbs!). I checked out a Ram North Edition a while back and it would be tough choosing between it and the F150. The North comes with a 1" lift, 33's and heated everything for my Puerto Rican wife to survive the cold.

I think it's a flip of a coin between the current Ram 1500 Hemi's and the Ford F150 EB's--it boils down to subjective preferences. I think I could be happy with either brand. Currently, I think Ram is being more aggressive with pricing / incentives. I've owned Chevy trucks in the past and have worn out a few Chevy police pursuit vehicles--they were king of the hill in the 80's / 90's as far as handling and longevity. . . not so much nowadays IMO. Despite what others may believe, I think FCA has really improved the Ram brand.

Good to hear. I haven’t heard of many issues at all with these 2.7 so maybe I’ll run it longer than 100k before trade in ...

I hope Ford sticks the 2.7 Ecoboost into the Ranger one of these days.
2 wheel drive pre-runner style with a locking rear end, rubber floors and cloth seats.
Oh and plaster a Raptor front end on there.

My little 2.7 in our F150 has been great. 20k in and it has not been babied. Driven like a truck, hauling, towing, and some full throttle acceleration.

It has used no oil, and seems very reliable. I think Ford did a great job with this little engine.

I'm glad it's been good but I'd hope there would be no oil usage at 20k. I'd need to now how reliable it is after 10x that number of miles.

Plenty of new vehicles burn oil at new, so your hope of a 20k no oil burner isn't always across the board possible. Some new Ford 5.0 have oil consumption issues.

I'm sure that's true for certain engines and I've heard of ring issues with 5.0s also, oil usage or not I'd hope the engine is still running well at 200k miles, unless it's been doing heavy towing or major abuse for most of its life. 20k is like the very first tiny fraction of a vehicles lifetime.

We think alike. I'd love to see the 2.7 GM Turbo engine show up in the Canyon and Colorado.

My work truck in 2018 was an 2.7EB with the 10 speed.
It was only a year but it was a fantastic combination. On long highway slogs I was getting 21-24 with a 4x4. It was plenty powerful for non max-tow stuff and because of the turbos it didn’t lack at all in low end torque.

At this point, if I had to replace my 5.0L '12, I would likely buy a 2.7L.

Funny you say that because I would do the same. I love my NA engine but it really has no torque. Downshifting on every overpass on the interstate, towing and fuel economy are not its strong points.

Back in summer of 2018. I was set on getting F150 Lariat with 5.0. By chance during test drive(after driving the 5.0), the truck(color) that i want was at a remote lot. We had to swap it out with another Lariat, but this one had the 2.7EB. Told the salesman forget the 5.0 at the remote lot. This 2.7EB is the one to get. We have been very happy with this truck and we tow our 4500lbs Travel Trailer with ease. So far no issue except factory recalls.....
