F1 The Movie

I want to go see it in theaters. Supposedly Apple had to develop an all new camera just to film some of the movie which seems a little odd.

My wife and I are done with theaters. I hate not being able to control the volume of something I'm watching. The last movie we saw at the theater was, "Open Range". The audio was horrible. The music was just blasting, but you could hardly hear the dialogue.

When it's aired on television it's fine. Not to mention I can either record it, or else pause it when I want to get something to eat, or to drain the main vein. Today with satellite, cable, and streaming options, along with 65"+ crystal clear TV's, the theater has lost most all of its appeal.

And I'm not in that much of a hurry to see movies anymore. So waiting a couple of months is not a big deal.

I think Brad Pitt is too old to drive F1? No matter how great you are, your reflexes and eyesight suffer in your 40s, and of course even 30s is old for F1

We rarely go to the movies after COVID. Wifey suggested F1, something about that cute Brad Pitt? I don't know much about F1, or racing in general.

Saw it in IMAX. Loved it. Now I gotta read up on F1.

We saw it in the theater today. It's basically Days of Thunder 2. Entertaining. We go to the theater once in a while for something to do. Most new movies are mediocre at best and I have no problem waiting.

Traditional Hollywood is battling the death rattles but can't fully admit it to themselves.

Streaming started it and '20 solidified it.

Personally, I think it's fine. We put actors on a pedestal way too much. Nothing wrong with the profession but they're not gods. They even thought they could influence this thing that happens every four years and it didn't work, which I find oh-so-RICH.

More relevant to the topic, I enjoyed Snowfall and that's where I first became familiar with Damson Idris. This is a series you can watch at home for the anti-theater crowd (not that I blame you).

So, it was "OK". Not a bad movie at all, but entirely predictable. Yes Brad Pitt IS too old, but that was part of the story line. The best thing about it was the incredible IMAX camera perspectives. It put you in the car probably as close as you can be without really being there. You feel the speed. They did a great job with that. If you are a racing enthusiast, it is a must see.

The negatives for me was the insanely loud soundtrack. Yeah, I get it, its supposed to be a loud racetrack setting. However, when it drowns out lots of the dialogue, I think its a negative. Many movies let dialogue get washed away by the sound FXs, but that's unfortunate. Great movies don't need to blow your eardrums out. The other negative was the very, very predictable story line.

That's my take. An entertaining movie, but not a must see unless you are a hard core racing fan. Seriously, bring earplugs. 3/5 stars.

I just don't understand why they insist on such high volume settings, and at the same time destroy the dialogue to the point you can't hear it. This has been going on for a while now with theaters.

I've seen it twice, both times in Harkins theaters in the Phoenix area.. The first was in a standard-size one; it was indeed too loud--but I have a feeling that that's what F1 cars really sound like from a few feet away--and did NOT look excellent.. I enjoyed the movie including Brad Pitt, one of my favorite male actors.. (Has anyone seen 'Ad Astra'? I have, in 4K/D. Atmos in my home threater.) Kerry Condon, an actor** new to me, was also excellent.

Second time was in one of Harkins' big CineXL theaters.. Still too loud, but visuals and audio was higher quality.. I'll buy it when it's released on 4K.*

* I enjoy watching movies and reading books that I love far more than one time, so I buy and keep them.
