I'm really hoping for another double points finish from Haas. If not for some bad luck MAG has been driving better than GRO.

Speaking of engines I'm not sure I've ever seen a more brazen commercial plug on Sky's F1 show than Mark Gallagher of Cosworth pitching themseves to be a "spec" engine of sorts or a specified outside supplier to orphan teams. He really pounded the point. Pining for days of yore when Cosworth WAS Formula 1 (in their minds)? Nice words from him for Haas.

In the qualifying show, they reported that the upgraded Honda engine has durability issues, and they don't know when it will be ready to race. McLaren has given Honda until September to produce a race-winning engine. Fernando Alonso said something like that during a press conference, and Zak Brown separately told reporters the same thing.

Makes me possibly understand why Cosworth has gone into the full court press all of a sudden.

Credit where credit is due - Lewis's accomplishment in pole postion wins, and everything else, is remarkable. He is a terrific talent. He's had some good breaks, what champion doesn't, but he and his family paid a lot of dues to get in position to get those breaks. He appears to have overcome many of his demons. I hope he sends about half of those big checks to his Dad and Mom.

NBCSports coverage is more commercials than race. I remember now why I'm a cord cutter. My local station was even running PSA's during the race.

I reckon he was the better driver in the better car today. If Verstappen hadn't taken half his wing off I reckon we'd have had a good race. As it was there were some good scraps and a bender or two, and then the obligatory Honda failure. All in all I really enjoyed the race.

Zak Brown was fuming about it and still is. Officially scheduled or not, he's acting as if it was. Considering how many targets Honda has failed to meet, it would be nice for them to get something done correctly and early for a change. Also, do note, I'm not a Honda or McLaren-Honda hater here. In the first year of their partnership, I was posting here to be patient, throughout the entire season. But this is season after season of absolute folly. On the other hand, Renault isn't exactly lighting the world on fire; Honda just happens to make everyone else look better.

DeepFriar: I seem to remember Lewis's dad worked two jobs to earn enough to fund things. It certainly paid off.
