For years I have always used Pennzoil dino oil in 3 of 4 family vehicles. I use Mobil 1 in the 4th one.

I see them run specials on Exxon Superflo, and its considerably less than the Pennzoil I've been using.

Will changing to the Exxon product cause any problems? I plan on sticking with the Mobil 1 in the 4th vehicle.

Thanks

No frank it the exxon superflo looks like it is the same as mobil clean 5000. It is a good oil but u may get same consumption after the switch with is normal it will clear after a few OCI's.

Since you don't mention how old these 3 vehicles are...how much mileage...what kind of driving you do, all you're likely to see are very general responses. So here's mine:

Changing to Superflo will probably not CAUSE any problems. If you choose to try it, start with one vehicle first and decide whether or not you like the result. If you do, change the others. If not, don't. If you try the Exxon and like it, let us know.

Thanks for the replies:

The 3 that run on dino are:
93 Aerostar 136,000 miles 3.0L OCI 3,000 mi mixed driving.
95 Caprice 50,000 miles 4.3L V8 OIC 3,000 mi mixed driving.
96 Blazer K5 85,000 miles 4.3L V6 OIC 2,000 mi stop and go.

All run great and are well maintained.

Even Super Tech dino at Wal*Mart has shown good analysis at 3K. Another two thrifty-priced oils are Trop Artic & Citgo for 3K OCIs. If the Exxon doesn't work to your satisfaction, then try the three here. One of these oil brands will make you a happy camper. They're all constructed a little different.

I can't imagine that the Superflo will give you any problems, especially at a 3K OCI. I'm running Superflo 10W-30 in my '85 Volvo wagon with 235K on it. This vehicle has long been run on whatever was on sale when I needed oil (the gallon jug of Superflow was $4.39 at Auto Zone), and for the last 100K or so has always used about a quart or quart and a half between 5K/6 month changes. With Superflo the consumption has decreased slightly, if anything.

Thanks for all the replies,

Since I have 4 vehicles to maintain the cost adds up. I think what I might do with the 3 that run on dino is add 500 miles to the OCI, and pick up a few free oil changes a year.

The one that runs on Mobil 1 is a seperate issue.

After reading thru several of the posts on this site the 3K OCI might be over kill. I am still not comfortable going past 3,500 mile OCI's yet.

The way we are getting beaten up at the gas pump every penny counts!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again
