Exxon Moly Gun Grease

I have some Exxon LIDOK EP 2 Moly grease. It contains 1% Moly.

I am thinking that I'll use a little as a gun grease on slide rails and a general action slicker upper. What do you think?

PS - This grease has been replaced with a different version containing 3% Moly.

PS #2 - I looked at some of the commercial Moly gun lubes and they don't list % Moly in them.

Most do not list the % of moly they contain. Most moly greases are between 1.5% - 3% unless they meet Caterpillar specs, then they have around 5% moly.

I have never used anything other than a light coating of gun oil on the slide. I do not see the need for grease for anything other that packing a firearm for long storage.

Grease works very well on firearms. I use a 50:50 mix of Amsoil Heavy Duty and Super Lube synthetic.

I use assembly lube (40% moly paste) on the slide rails of my pistols - don't need much and it works great.

Why are you mixing lubes? Do you know more than the chemical engineers that designed and tested them to operate alone?

If it works perfectly fine, then what difference does it make? I've used the Super Lube spray on my Ruger MKII and it was the best lube I had ever used on that gun by a wide margin. The grease has a similar composition, so I wanted to try it, but I also wanted a pretty good dose of moly, so I mixed them. I've been using that mix for over a year now with excellent results.
