Exterior light help

Hi, I'm looking at adding an exterior light on my back porch. currently there is just an exterior outlet (wall socket) over there. I was wondering if I would be able to tap in to the outlet to power the light as well as add a switch on the inside of the house?

Most likely, yes, but it sounds like you should get some (qualified) help.

there could be regs governing the mixing of lights and power outlets, or the number of places the wiring can terminate from just 1 fuse. It can be done obviously, but might not be legal.

Do you have a picture of the setup? You can probably do it, but will take some work for running wires for a switch and exterior fixture. Whats material is on the exterior of the house?
