Experimenting suggestions

Hey guys, since I started getting interest with automatic transmissions, I bought a used Aisin 09G MAM VW mk6 transmission with 154,000 miles.

I am going to do a clutch pack and seal rebuild on the transmission, since I have nothing to lose, do any of you have suggestions on what type of ATF I should try and see if its successful?

Alot of people say that the 09G is picky on atf, I somewhat disagree, but many of you state that it is not.

Should I try valvoline Maxlife?

I use the Toyota T-IV I suppose that Red Line D4 would be the possible real synthetic version of this fluid. The MaxLife is most probably a group III synthetic. Probably won't make much difference if any of them are used with a reasonable change interval. I think these transmissions are a pretty robust and long lived transmission if maintained.

Maxlife should be okay for it. I've heard of people using some type f to make an old trans grab more but since yours in gonna get a new pack it wouldn't need it. i believe the trans would have to be reset to learn shift points and such and may need a scan tool for that or it may not want to cooperate at first.

the transmission control module does that, I have VCDS might want to use that after I get done rebuilding it.

I'd use T-IV/3309. Maxlife is thinner and you can tell the difference in performance. The syn/non-syn is much less of an issue than getting the viscosity correct. I've got quite a few of the similar 55-50 transmissions and I can tell the difference.
