I'm generally against additives, but a YouTuber whose opinions I value on other things uses Everyday Diesel additive and says at worst he gains enough MPG to pay for the additive, plus gets the other advantages of the additive. Anyone have any experience?

I've bought a 4oz bottle to try, that'll be enough to see if it's actually any benefit. If it's just a break even proposition, I'll pass and skip the added hassle.

Skeptical.

Edit:

I use EDT in every tank of fuel in my 535d. I pretend it gives me 10 extra HP and 15 extra MPG. No clue if it actually does anything. I really use it, though.

I add two-stroke oil to my diesel to increase its lubricity. I only mix it at about 200:1, so a large jug of oil goes a long way. I have NFI whether or not it actually does anything, but it makes me feel like it's helping.

Oregon has a B5 mandate, so no concerns about lubricity.

Any particular reason for Power Service?

I have zero problems with how the engine runs without additives, just chasing better economy.
Lake Speed Jr had a good video on testing the differences & that one is the one I'd use all day long. I will say there was another brand that showed less injector wear BUT at the expense of having higher readings on a used oil analysis. I try to not contaminate my used oil analysis test results if I can. I use that PS in my Power Stroke so I'm recommending what I use as well. You can make a better informed decision by watching that video IMO. It was helpful for me anyways.

Thank you. I'll give it a watch.

Alrighty, have started using the Hotshot's Everyday additive.

Wasn't expecting any difference, but the engine is quieter and smoother, like when I could get R99 diesel.

Too soon to tell if there's any mpg difference.

Alrighty, several tanks in, engine continues to run very nicely.

MPG difference, absolutely no clue. I normally get 340-360km per half tank and would need to get slightly more than 3km more per half tank for the additive to pay for itself. Under 1%. The idea of measuring MPG to under 1% accuracy outside of a lab is laughable.

I like Hot Shots because it's very concentrated, only needs 1/2oz per half tank(I try to keep vehicles over half tank, lots of reasons). Comparing dose rates and costs with other additives, Hot Shots is pretty economical as long as you actually measure and stick to the dose rate. Guessing they're expecting most people to measure via the glug-and-a-half method and vastly over-dose. Bought a pile of 1/2oz laboratory chemical bottles, easy to decant a larger container into the bottles, then at the pump there's no measuring. Just dump in a tiny bottle and fill with fuel. Could buy any other size bottle as well to suit another dosage rate.

Very pleased.
