Expensive License Plate!

The way I heard it, number tags in England are linked to the car, not the driver.

Ergo, the first plates, like 1, 2, 3 etc., are well above unicorn status.

I've seen the small ads for such plates which appear in newspapers daily.

I remember an article a few years back a 90s Volvo wagon was being sold for way, way more than it was worth because it had the registered NY license plate that spelt out “NEW YORK”. I don’t know if anyone bought it.

What happened? I have always thought they to be a very credible source. Not like they're the National Enquirer!
Actually, I'd put more credibility in the National Enquirer.
Here's the most important thing to remember: After 7:00 PM, ALL prime time "news organizations" cater to their viewers. And whatever the subject, they have a few "experts" spouting their opinions just to get ratings. If the news is against the political views of their listeners, it doesn't get reported or they put a spin on it and the news is reported in their favor. CNN is just the worst. I haven't watched any "news programs" during prime time for several years and it truly is a breath of fresh air.

The oil companies in the UAE make $100's of millions of dollar a day, $15mm for a license plate is a drop in the bucket.

I'd pay a premium for this license plate though:
