Expensive Dealer filter or not?

I will always be a believer in OEM filters for my rides, but Wix is good. If the car's still under warranty, probably best to run the OEM filter until it's up. That way if there ever is a problem with it, they can't point at the aftermarket filter and question it or deny your warranty, because they will try to get out of it any way they can.

While I'm generally a fan of using OEM filters, in my case Motorcraft for my Fords, the other side of the coin is how many Crown Vics, F150s, etc, are used in police, taxi, and other commercial functions and last hundreds of thousands of miles on whatever low-bid oil and filters the repair barn uses?

While my heart likes the warm fuzzy feeling I get from installing a new Motorcraft FL820S on my daily driver, my mind wonders how many cheap-o filters were installed in the 12 years and 120,000 miles the previous owner(s) had it and does that really even matter?
