Excellent service from local dealer!

Since the internet is crammed full of folks who like to complain...I have a good story.
I normally do all my own work, when I got my 02 Silverado it had a couple of codes, I wanted to fix it myself as the warranty only covers the lubricated stuff.

It had a MAF code and both knock sensor codes. Replaced the MAF (80 bucks) cleared the MAF code. Replaced the Knock sensors. Cleared the P0332 rear Knock sensor but not the P0327 forward Knock sensor.
So I fooled around with it awhile and couldn't get it to clear.
Took it to the local Chevy dealer and spoke with the tech, told him everything I had done and then we went for a ride. He pulled the codes went back to the dealership and an hour later he told me I need to get the wiring harness and most likely the front knock sensor because the Autozone ones have only been problems in the 6.0 trucks. NO CHARGE. I bought the stuff at the dealer and presto problem solved!
Dealership said they didn't want to charge me for something they felt I already had the answer to and they were just a second set of eyes!

That saved me the 95 dollar diagnostic fee. Awesome!

I have yet to find honest Ford dealer in Miami-Dade or Broward County..I am really trying hard to find one as I like doing my 30K mile service at the Ford dealer..When I lived in the NYC area I had a awesome Ford dealer in Englewood N.J. [Town Motors] and Wayne Lincoln Mercury in Wayne N.J.

The last time I went to the Ford dealer down here I almost ended up in handcuffs and in the back of a CVPI with a cage after the dealer tried to hose me.

If anyone here in Miami-Dade or Broward County knows of a honest Ford dealer please tell me.

It is bad enough getting hosed but it is that twist that hurts.

You might do stuff like that but not me..I have a honest independent but for the 30K service intervals I like a Ford dealer to do it.

Get off your high horse. Some people reward good service and being treated right. I'd bet the reason you haven't found a good dealer in your area is because you're an @$$ that they can sense coming a mile away, and treat you accordingly.

I don't think that was a stupid comment at all (and I'm pretty sure it was directed at the OP and NOT you). If the dealer has treated him well, and their prices are good, why wouldn't he go back?

I used to go to an independent. Great guy, did fantastic work. However, I found that going to the dealer actually cost me LESS money. And I get their head diesel mechanic to work on my truck, which is an added bonus! (helps that I know him personally) He is an awesome guy and always tries to save me money where he can.

Going to the dealer (for me) is:

A. Closer
B. Faster
C. More convenient

They are able to do the work quicker because they have more equipment for working on my Ford (in this instance). They are just up the street from my work, so they are closer. And they will drive me to wherever I need to go while my vehicle is being serviced, and pick me up when it is done. And this is at no extra charge.

So while some people swear by their Independent. And there is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes the service at a dealer can be as good, or better. And I don't think there is anything wrong with showing your appreciation for them being fair to you by giving them more of your business.

Great to hear.

When I installed a new drive belt on my friend's Prius, I had no prior experience with installing manually tensioned belts. Despite following the directions, I wasn't entirely sure if the belt was installed correctly.

So one day, toward closing time, I drove the Prius to the back of the shop and found a couple techs sitting there. I told them I changed out the drive belt and asked them how to properly gauge belt tension, and whether or not I had done it right. They were more than willing to open the hood and verify for me that the belt was indeed, installed correctly.

Great dealer as well, you just have to be nice and hope that someone else is willing to return the favor.

He was probably talking to the OP. It helps to read back a few posts to gain perspective, that has prevented me from tasting shoe leather quite a few times.

It is a fact that there are dealers (too few, of course) who provide excellent service after the sale. My Toyota dealer is one of them.
