Sampling probably not, extending probably not.......I've rebuilt my little K24 about a dozen times upgrading different things, so Ive seen the inside of the engine, and other engines so much, that I can see what works and what does not. I'll say basic Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 0w40 works in about 90% of higher HP cars.......I do believe that the boutique oils allow you some headroom on viscosity and oil change intervals.....Like the M5 guys in my club love Redline in their S63s......some of these guys are making 900-1000hp.....they run only 5w40.....but Redlines 5w40 has an HTHS of 4.4.......its heavy for its weight......HPL is the same way, it doesn't lose viscosity at all over a normal interval.....so if your running 200hp over stock, or even 400hp over stock, boutiques offer something for you
Maybe for some on this forum, but doubtful on the world stage, mainly because it’s not really marketed much outside like it is here.i know they make an excellent motorcycle oil.
