Every Parent's Nightmare is a documentary featuring Reverend Julie Nicholson and her struggle for forgiveness. On July 7, 2005, her 24-year-old daughter Jenny was one of the 52 people murdered in the London terrorist bombings. Tonight, Nicholson's brave and harrowing story takes her back to the very tunnel where the bomb went off as she searches for spiritual closure.
Although a devoted priest, the tragedy forced Nicholson to question the essence of what she believes in, finding herself incapable of preaching reconciliation and forgiveness. Touted "the priest that can't forgive", she embarks on a journey to see whether #@$%! holds any comfort or inspiration for grieving parents in similar circumstances to her own. From the father of a Thailand tsunami victim to a mother coping with a daughter with epilepsy and cerebral palsy, all of these parents are shown to have different means of turning to a higher being in times of sorrow.
This is as close as many of us will come to understanding the loss of a child. Although a religious journey more than anything, it's hard to walk away unaffected by the raw, confronting emotions of families that only have memories of their children left.
