My new doctor just put me on Baclofen (muscle relaxer). I have been suffering from a muscle spasm in my back for two years so hopefully this will help! Have any of you been on this before? Any side effects etc? Yes, I know this is an oil form lol. But its always nice to hear from real people.

While i have not used it myself, it does have a short half life. I don't think you build a tolerance or at least as much tolerance as others. The only caveat i see, is if you use it regularly , long term, there could be withdrawal side effects if you just stop. If you use it regularly for several months, taper off it. Even though it does not produce cns effects like euphoria, it can be a nasty cold turkey withdrawal.

Does not really work for me and gives me slight headaches but of course YMMV. For me the best muscle relaxer I ever had was soma but I think that one is hard to get.

I was on it and couldn't tell if it did much for me. It might have but I never noticed any side effects. I couldn't tell if it was hard to get off of because I was getting off Percocet at the same time and that was a [censored]. I have a bulged disc though so not the same situation you are using it for.

Is this your first muscle relaxant prescription? Generally baclofen is not a first choice med. I've heard reports it can make you goofy. Careful with driving or other duties needing attention.

Yep, first muscle relaxant rx. I've taken two so far and not much relief yet. We will see.

Aren't you a pharmacy technician? The pharmacist can be a good source of information.

Yes, in fact I am! I have access to all side effects etc. The truth is most meds have side effects a mile long, but most people may experience a small number if any of those side effects. And yes, I know this is an oil forum

Everyone is different so what one person experience with a drug may not be the experience of another. Robaxin ( methocarbamol) is usually a first choice. Another good drug is Skelaxin.

De how it affects you or works. After a few days you can make your decision.

My doctor prescribed it to me last year. Didn't do anything for me. What works a little better for me is Flexeril but I still don't hardly take it.

With all my back pain and Sciatica my doctor finally sent me in for an MRI, 1 bulged disc and a protruding disc (I'm only 22). Meeting with a new spine doctor on Tuesday.

So you might want to consider asking for an MRI if this doesn't help. I don't want to be on medication.

Wow, thats too bad especially at that age. I am young also but am not sure what the cause of this spasm is. My new doctor did say I have slight scoliosis so that probably isn't helping.
