Even though the subsidies (thankfully) ended, we're still saddled with the mandate that all gasoline must be E10. If we instead let the market forces dictate fuel use, I think we'd still have E0 as a cheaper choice.

Most all cars built in the last 20 years would be built from materials tolerant of ethanol. Anything with a carburator or pot metal contact to ethanol will corrode. Including the inside of galvanized tanks.

I think its bad because my car looses 6% MPG, my only beef with ethanol besides increased food prices.

The subsidies have ended but the industry has a false economy with the billions apon billions of tax payer spent money has built this for the farmer.

What happens when that infrastructure becomes distressed?

Ethanol is made to be stored inside a heavily charred white oak barrel for 6+ years, and then bottled and then sipped and enjoyed. It has no place in a gas tank.

I have been running my Colorado on e0 for about 6 weeks. The difference I see is amazing. Better fuel mileage. Smoother idling, better low end torque.

My lawn mower really loves it.

There's no ethanol mandate in my state, and E10 fuels are still cheaper (after the subsidies ended) than E0 pure gas.

This implies the energy content of alcohol is cheaper than gasoline in your state. If true, then why isn't everyone in your state (who qualifies) flocking to buy E85?... or maybe they are and we don't know about it.

They might be, I don't know. There's only one E85 pump in our town and it's at a gas station that I don't normally frequent, so I don't know how much traffic it gets. None of our three vehicles is "flex-fuel" capable, so I couldn't use E85 even if I wanted to.

"even Al Gore has admitted he was fooled into thinking it was a great idea" i just love it when other people decide whats best for me with out asking me. but when its learned what the Truth is its not changed back.

Too much ethanol in my diet gives me diarrhea(and a hang-over) ... just imagine what it does to the emissions coming out your car's tail pipe (ecu hang-over) ... bwahahahahahaha!
