Ester or PAO

"Many VII's today come in a VII/dispersant add package. This type of multifunctional additive is okay for PCMO's but not for diesel oils."

Why not Rhom has pushed dispersant PMA's for at least 10 years for diesel applications.

The thing that makes Group I base oils have good solvency is all the aromatic and sulfur compounds that remain in them. These are great for solvency, but not good when it comes to what happens to them inside your engine over time. The processes involved in producing Group II and Group III get rid of 99.9% of these compounds leaving behind a fully saturated base oil, which is what PAO is too. Since these base oils do not have aromatics, their solvency is very, very poor.

So what is the ideal ratio of Ester to PAO? RL touts it's POE as the primary basestock. Shell/XOM state that all or mostly ester basestocks show higher wear metals and that esters compete with anti-wear additives.

Shell tested Ester based oils with Ferrari and switched back to blends. Cost obviously not an issue to these racing teams. There is more to it then that. I've heard some say 80% PAO with about 20% Ester is most common and most ideal.

What Terry is talking about is mixing two fully formulated motor oils, Mobil 1 and Redline. He's not talking about a base oil blend of PAO and esters from which a fully formulated motor oil is made.

Then, what can I use here in Italy in my turbocharged high hp engine ?

Currently I use the Motul 300V 10W-40, and I think it's a double ester.

Should I have to mix it with some PAO oil ?

Which one ?

TIA

Thank you !!!!

But... ehm... sorry...

what's 1 qt ???? 1 quarter of gallon ?

do you add 1 quarter of 300v chrono to a Redline ?

What kind of Redline ?

TIA !

Thank you...

but which Redline ?

Or is there only one kind of Redline 10w30 ?

Sorry but I don't know this oil because I never saw it here in Italy...

It is a 100% sinth, correct ?

Why do you use different gradation's oils ?

Ciao Napoletano !

Thank you !

I'm only trying to understand which could be the BEST oil, or the best oil combination, I could use in my Celica GT four ( turbocharged - 425 4whp ) that I use in track...

I always used Motul 300v 10w40... maybe there are better oils or mix...

Our testing in PCMO's show that one could use 50% complex POE's without worry of excessive wear, additive antagonism, or seal swell problems.

The main reason for the 10-15% or so is the cost factor ratio for POE's verses PAO's.

The good Esters are around $1500/Barrel.

Hi Mola & all...

[ PS... your GL4 oil is great !

]

do you know if Motul 300v is a FULL double ester or if it has some % of PAO ?

Sorry, I tried to learn something reading the forum, but I'm not able to find the correct threads to understand which additives makes what... what oil ( or mix ) I'd need in my turbocharged engine... ecc...

Thank you.
