Esso XD3 is no more...mostly

I am copying and pasting a post I just put in another thread in the PCMO diesel cars/vans/suvs section. I feel this needs some more exposure.

Ok so I was at my Bulk dealer today and...
Yes the XD3 0W-40 is no longer, it is Mobil Delvac 1 ESP but still at the XD3 prices. The only XD3 oil left will be 0w30 as all of the other flavors of XD3 (not synthetic) are now Mobil Delvac 1300 Super.

So while I was there I bought a case of XD3 0w30 smile


And some other pertinent info.

After some looking, the XD3 0w-40 and the Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 0w40 have identical specs. Well for what the Mobil pds gives you compared to the Esso one. I do not like the fact that Mobil will not state that it is a PAO like the XD3 did. It only says "is manufactured from high quality petroleum base stocks, carefully blended with selected additives", typical Mobil [censored] in my mind!

On the other hand the XD3 15w40 and Delvac 1300 super are different oils and from what I can tell it is an improvment.

Not a suprise....complete overlap of products.

I was at an Esso station recently, and they had quarts of Delvac 1300 15w40 on the shelf - suprised me, never seen Delvac HDEO up here anywhere.....

I think the info about being made from petroleum basetstocks is probably more of a dislaimer with reference made to safety that they probably (I have seen it on others), print for many other product info guides.
The previous XD-3 0W40 used to say that as well at the bottom of the page, but farther up it mentioned it was made from PAO...
I have some old ones save that state this.

Is there any way to tell if D1 in question is "developed in Canada" at all? Just trying to figure out if it's a rebadged Imperial Oil product, or simply imported from the states.

So far the Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 0w-40 looks to be XD3 in a Mobil jug as the specs on the D1 PDS match the old XD3 specs.
But the Delvac 1300 Super looks to be a new oil compared to the old Esso XD3 line-up.
I am waiting for Imperial Oil to update their website or I may hit up my bulk dealer for spec sheets.
