Sorry for another short OCI

. The bike is now put away for the winter.

Has anyone been able to format a UOA nicely with the new board software???

Hmmm..I've often wondered about this oil in a motorcycle. Thanks for posting this!

Sheared to a thick 30wt rather quickly....but then so did the m1 10w-40. Looks like I wouldn't use this in my bike that asks for a Triumph-specific M1 15w-50....since the M1 15w-50 (which is likely the same as the triumph stuff) does retain a higher viscosity.

Yup, the 0W40 did shear pretty quick. Here's some more useless numbers

Can the following table be considered a valid comparison for viscosity retention???

Unfortunately not the same mileage on each UOA... FWIW in the MCN Oil article from 1994 the Mobil 1 15W50 (likely a different chemistry) retained 86.6% after 800 miles and 83.0% after 1500 miles

Code:

Oil Nominal UOA Value Retention Miles

Esso XD-3 0W40 15.7 12.1 77.1% 930

M1 V-Twin 20W50 17.8 17.0 95.5% 1237

M1 MX4T 10W40 13.8 12.5 90.6% 1295

CB900F2: I don't think you're reading the post correctly. It's difficult to setup a table correctly with this new UBB software. Here's a link to a simple text file that is formatted correctly: Summary of UOA's

Here are the specs from the bottles for:

Esso XD-3 Extra 0W40 SH/SJ/SL
Mobil 1 MX4T 10W40 SG/SH/MA
Mobil 1 VTwin 20W50 SG/SH/MA
Mobil 1 15W50 SH/SJ/SL

The fact that an oil is not JASO MA specd does not stop me from using it
