It used to be PureOne based on the numbers, but now it looks like it has been replaced by Fram Ultra for having the highest efficiency numbers at 20 and 10 micron.

The best oil filter is a quality air filter. Best numbers do not mean much when the filters fail.

Fran Ultra looks to be very constructed as well, from the cutaway photos I've seen here on BITOG. It's the filter I'm buying now.

Best filter are those with most trapping ability. But flow is important also. That's why I choose the Tough Guard over the Ultra for 12k runs (2-6K OCIs).

if your just asking for pinions(erdict-pinions,get it!

)

i like the fram ultra, tough guard, and the royal purple(cuz i can't get the fram ultra or tough guard for my Big Block 496)

You say this all the time- fine.
But can you run a car with the oil filter off- not for long unless you have Prolong:) lol

And "erdict"?

I'd like to see your TG at 12K? Do you cut filters or would you send it to one of us?
I have some TG's I'm going to put into service just to get rid of them and I've seen many Ultras all the way out to 24K over three OCI's but the TG at 12K is new to me. I think C51 or myself would cut it, if you don't..... thanks.
Sorry to throw you in there c51

So you should be running an Ultra.

Why not? XG9100 is available; you'd have redundant BPV's, but it would still work fine.

You should look at some of the tests Bob Winters ran back in the day...

thanks RJ:

whether the relief valve setting on the ultra9100(9-15) was a negative in using it vs the ph8873(no relief valve setting) is a question i had asked before with no answer.

i appreciate your help.

Thank you for your always helpful repetitive post!

Best in a the Honda/Nissan/Subaru/hyundia app ( they are same) is Filtech Honda p/n: ...pcx004 IMO 14 bucks each at dealer. worth 7 bucks?

I'm just talking monitoring general engine racket and performance, not filtering efficiency.
