I've noticed that the Honda after sitting a day or night in cold weather (10F-25F) takes about 3-3.5 seconds to start. The Mazda turns over a bit faster and doesn't have that "struggling" sound. I'm thinking about checking the battery. I put an Exide battery in the Honda about 2 years ago.

Exide batteries from my experience aren't my favorite choice. Then are the terminals clean? Remove and clean. They seem to leak electrolite fron the terminals more than any other brand. Then go to a somewhere that offere free load testing and have the battery load tested.
I put a genuine honda battery in my 03' civic LX 4dr as its like 420 CCA. If youre ever in pittsburgh area, look me up as I could get you a factory honda battery brand new for 50$ includes the core. I have a few honda technician friends that I do RHVAC(REFRIGERATION, HEATING AND A/C work for).

p.s. I paid 35$ plus a 15$ core for my GENUINE HONDA OEM battery 2 yrs ago, that is I paid cost price for a battery!

Even with the brand new battery in my focus, and the Castrol EDGE 5W-20, in really cold weather (20 and below) it doesn't crank longer, but it definitely cranks slower. I'm pretty sure that's a normal thing.
Any two cars will start differently for bunches and bunches of reasons.

My Jeep gets the same way. When it's below 30* or so, it starts to crank a little slower, and a little longer, and the startup is a bit rougher. By the time it hits single digits, it's about 5 seconds of cranking, then it spits a bit and catches, and runs rough for a couple minutes.
In my case, the hard starting due to the poor spray pattern from the stock injectors. Somewhat slower cranking in the cold is normal. If the battery and connections are ok, and the ignition system is in good shape (spark plugs not too old, etc), then it may be normal for the car. Did it do this last winter?
