Engine running without oil in pan

My post of 75 miles is the number miles I drove that night. I have no idea truthfuly of how many of those miles were without oil. I only know that half way through the night my engine was starting to run a little rough and the lifter were a little noisey but not bad. It never developed any knocking but the coolant temp was really high.

I headed home when the coolant went into the red. I never thought to check the oil because I had changed it recently. I had installed Castrol Syntec 5W50 and SLick 50! Oh the good ole days!!! I do know for sure though that once the coolant tempo went into the red it had to have been at least 10-15 miles. I drove from Ludawici(sp) Ga. to Garden Circle in Hinesville Ga.

I have seen plenty of vechiles run without oil live to tell the tale. I msut admit that they do not live long happy lives after this happens though. Usualy within 10,000-25,000 they are in bad shape.

I also wanted to make clear that I do not think Syntec 5W50 or the Slick50 did anything to protect the engine!
