Engine Oil Quality Tester

Today is my B Day. Out of love, my sister bought me this Tester for used oil. I'm not sure how it works if at all, but it's the thought that counts. She listens to me talk about cars and bought me this new toy to play with.
Just wanted to share this Chinese oil tester and share with you guys.

I'm ready with 4 test kits from Amsoil for next few oil changes
What is the quality parameter the tester supposedly tests, and what quality parameter are you comparing against on those UOA?

If you’re not sure how it works how do you know if the UOA verifies or conflicts the the tester?

More data required...we will see if his used oil analysis correlate or contradict the device's indications.

The box says it does three tests, then says "temperature".

I guessing it tests:
1. Temperature
2. Conductivity
3. PH or maybe it shines a light through it to look for how dark it is?

The probe looks like it could go down the dipstick.
 
I’m still a little confused as to what you would look at on the UOA to determine a quality metric.
I would assume you stick a little probe in the used oil, it will tell you the different base stocks and additives used at what percentages and the suppliers name, addresses and phone numbers, along with the regular tests you get with an old fashioned UOA. AMAZING TECHNOLOGY! LOL!

It really depends on what the device output is, as to whether you could compare them or not.

I'm guessing you might not have picked up on the slight tongue-in-cheek in my initial response. 's'ok

Plus then it has to tell you what those additives do and at what concentrations, and whether those concentrations in the oil are insufficient for continued protection. That’s really the tough part.

Judging by the look of that probe, I doubt very much it measures pH. Aside from the fact that measuring the pH of a non-aqueous solution is a frightful task.
 
It looks like a lot of fun. I'd be using it to prove to all of my friends and family that the strangest liquids are the highest quality engine oil. Maple syrup, olive oil, etc.

I'm curious what kind of magic it uses to measure whatever its measuring. It clearly has a temp probe, but I fail to see the use of that unless you can stick the probe in the engine during operation, which you clearly can't. So what does the temp of a sample matter?

The tester is probably off Amazon and I have no idea yet how it works or what it truly says.

How to Use:
  1. Turn On: Long-press the ON/OFF button, select your engine type (gasoline/diesel), and choose temperature units.
  2. Test: Insert the probe into the oil dipstick port, ensuring it is immersed.
  3. Analyze: Press "Start" to measure; the screen will display the percentage of light transmittance to indicate oil health.
  4. Results: A high percentage means clean oil, while a low percentage (below 30%) indicates severe degradation, typically signaled by a red light warning.

I am lab testing this same oil once I get it to 10k miles. I have 4 test kits here ready to read.
