engine oil overfilled

since the oil gets consumed rapidly, I wouldn't do anything and let it take care of itself.
Yes, but where does the oil disappear to? Does some go through the PCV? Does some get burned?

I just put in a new PCV. I'd like to keep my new PCV as clean as possible for as long as possible. I'd also like to keep my plugs and valves as clean as possible.

"Someone" overfilled it, eh?

No harm is going to come for such a small volume of overfill. So the "easiest, convenient way" is simply to drive it and let it consume the lube, as Jetronic mentioned. After all, is that "someone" going to otherwise collect the oil and reuse it? Because if not, then what's the point?

If you do decide to remove it manually, make sure you get exactly 5/6 of a quart; use a graduated beaker. You wouldn't want it to be 1/32 of a quart underfilled. ;)
Yes, someone other than my cousin or I overfilled it. Specifically it my certified mechanic at a shop who overfilled it. The engine specifies 4.5 qts. My mechanic poured in a 5 qts jug.

Normally my cousin changes my oil since I've become too handicapped to do it myself. My cousin is very accurate about putting in 4.2 qts every time. My mechanic changed my oil last time after replacing lower intake manifold gasket, upper intake manifold gasket, and valve covers gaskets.

Maybe it won't lose oil anymore due to new valve covers gaskets eliminated a slow drip. 🤔 It's not leaking oil anymore.

My plate is already full to overflowing with higher priorities that I need to take care of before Sept 5. So I'm not going to worry about my Buick motor oil being ½ quart overfilled because (based on advice in this thread) ½ quart overfilled isn't a concern.

If I was going to remove some oil, I'd loosen, or quicky remove and replace, drain-plug with a cold engine as described earlier in this thread.

Thanks for the advice.

I used put 6.5 quarts into our GM 3.6 (6 quart capacity) that burned a quart every oil change interval. That way I only had to top off once around the middle of the interval.

Not only would I say not to worry about it. I would add keep slightly over filling for the convenience.
