While cleaning out my grandmothers barn, I came across an old engine that I forgot I had put in there years ago. No numbers or any way to identify it. Its HEAVY, and has electric start. I also have a similar engine, Ill post pics of that one later. Any help identifying this engine and if I can still get parts would be appreciated.

Looks like a Wisconsin, if that's right then you may have problems finding parts

Definitely a cast iron K-series Kohler, looks like a K-161 or K-181. There is usually a tag somewhere on the shroud, but yours might be missing. See if you can make out any writing on the side of the shroud.

We used to have the starter drive for the Prestolite starter used on Wisconsin. Every one complained about the the cost. Then in a matter of about 6 months we sold all of them. Should have raised the price. Now, you must have a rebuildable core.

Yes, you can still find parts for them fairly easily. They are very durable engines.
This is the other engine, if someone can ID it. Hopefully it turns over, it didnt have a spark plug in it when I got it, Ive had a garbage bag over both of them for years and just took them off to take these pics.

That one would be a 1970's? Briggs and Stratton 7-9hp engine. There should be a code stamped into the shroud somewhere that will give you more info.
There looks like a tag which was painted over. Take some paint thinner to the tag and see if that exposes the information you need.
Maybe-maybe not. I am still looking for engine parts for an old Lauson I have.
The difference is that Lauson is no longer in business.
