Engine dies when cold

I thought someone here might have some experience with this. on my 92 mitsubishi mirage, 115k miles, the car starts fine, I let the car idle apprx 30 seconds in cold temp, drive slowly, but when I get to the first stopsign and idle for a minute for traffic. the engine shuts off immediately. what would be the cause of this? I start the car right up on the first try with no problem. The problem doesn't happen again when the car is warmed up or stopped. is this as simple as a clogged fuel filter? I bought the car in 98 and no records of previous fuel filter change. however, I read that clogged fuel filters would cause the engine to die at high speeds not at low speeds as the demand for gasoline is greater at high speeds. thought I would run this by some folks here for some opinions. This is the second time the engine has died on me in the past two months. I use chevron gas and I cleaned the throttle plate back in July when I had an idle problem. any opinions greatly appreciated

I would replace the fuel filter since its age is unknown. Your problem may be due to a lean mixture when cold. Test the coolant and air temp sensors for the fuel injection, if equipped, and look carefully for any vacuum leaks. Also, if your O2 sensor is the original, consider replacing it.

Could be many things... even a fuel pump!

Keep us posted... Check everything you can...
Make sure all the simple things are covered like vacume hoses... Go ahead and do a service on the fuel filter just because you have a problem and to establish a baseline... Buy a service book...
