I'm debating on what to use going forward for engine detailing. I have been using Meguiar's Ultimate Protection, which is more of an interior detailer, and 303 on the engine over the last few years. Hose the engine down with Super Clean then go over it with a detailer spray (303/Meguiars etc.)

How does CD2 compare to Meguiars Hyperdressing? Is that a spray on as well? Why not just use any 303 type spray product on the engine? Do some of these products dry more even than others?

With the CD2, you spray and walk away. I kind of like that approach.

Thanks!

I have used tire foam for years. Spray the whole engine compartment (stay away from the belts)...do a little wiping and your done.

Of course, you should degrease or wash it down first to get the crud out.

Common practice with the detailer at the tote the note lot I used to work at with the cash sale cars. Power wash the oil leak evidence off, spray it with the big yellow can of STP foaming tire cleaner, and close the hood.
It had a vaguely ammonia-like smell while it was burning off the manifold.
It worked pretty well. Of course within a week, the cash sale cars engines would be covered in oil again, but all sales on those cars were final.

I use CD2 sometimes but most of the time I use Meguiar's natural shine protectant. The CD2 still requires some rubbing in once it's on or it won't look as good.

Thanks, I have noticed that too. One poster on another forum said the new stuff isn't quite as good as the old. So far I like it a lot. Haven't used it on the Honda. May try Meguiars Hyperdressing.

I just use degreaser to clean it up, rinse off, let dry. Then I spray most everything (within reason) with multi purpose lubricant (WD40 knockoff usually). Always looks great.

Any benefits other than cosmetic ones for cleaning the engine bay other then getting leaves out and wiping down with a rag?

Yes, a clean engine bay can make it easier to detect leaks in gaskets and I'm sure mechanics also appreciate not having to clean off 10 years of grease and @#^(% to get their job done.

I use Pledge. Learned about this on a Harley forum. Amazing results,AND will not attract dirt and dust like protectants will.
