I read on BITOG all the time how bad it is on engines to drive short trips especially in colder months because the oil never heats up properly. I have a car that I use mainly back and forth to work which is about 4 miles each way. I know it barely gets up to operating temp and then its time to shut it down. The climate here in the winter is usually 15 to 40 degrees and I am using 5w30 conventional in it and change it every 4-5000 miles. Would it be good to use an engine block heater to keep the oil relatively warm to help combat the condensation that forms?
