endoscope question

I am looking for and endoscope which can focus on something a foot or two away on a cable 15-20 feet long. It will be used one time to look inside a ceiling to look for a possible leak. It will be used one time so cheaper is better. Does such a tool exist. I thought endoscopes only focus very near the object

I think you'll be fine, I got a cheapie $15 USB one from eBay and it focuses to whatever you want.

Optically speaking, close focusing is more challenging so they can "throw in" six inches to infinity for practically no effort.
