Francis Quarles (1592–1644)
QUOTATION: Our God and Souldiers we alike adore,
Ev’n at the Brink of danger; not before:
After deliverance, both alike required;
Our God’s forgotten, and our Souldiers slighted.
I remember being ridiculed when I enlisted into the Army in 1975. I couldn't understand why people would give me "grief", I wasn't in charge. But still I carried on, and am still proud to have done my part in advancing this NOBLE EXPERIMENT, our country. My Uncle Ted was sleeping off a good Saturday night at Schofield Barracks on December 7, 1941. He said he got sober reeeealy fast. MY Father was drafted in 1951 and sent to West Berlin. My Cousin was in Vietnam, it was a [censored]-hole also. I came along and in the fullness of time, my son as well. God willing, I will exchange salutes with my one of my grand-children.
