Some appliances like my Shark Steam Mop (bought 6 months ago) don't have an on/off switch. When you plug it in it comes on. Sometimes when I pull the plug out of the socket there's a spark. Is this normal. FYI. The plug is two prong with the wider plug for polarity (no ground plug).

Yes its normal.Like those George Foreman grilles without a switch,or those immersion heaters for coffee mugs....all live with no way to shut off.

Yes it is normal. As load increases, the arcing seems to increase near the connection point.
