Early voting at the local township building

Just so you know, and presuming you're in Illinois, they have to do this. Well, it may not be ~4 hours, but state law requires them to give you some amount of (paid) time to vote.
Texas requires employers to give off 2 paid hours to vote, unless you are off for 2 consecutive hours while polls are open (ie polls open 7am-7pm, you get off work at 5, or go in at 9, they don't have to give you time off).
I work election day (7a-7p), and working in an ER, it is not kind to other workers to take off to go vote, so I just voted early (and did not want to mess with the crowds on election day).

For EARLY voting, many precincts are consolidated into one place.

I go to a firehouse if I vote on the actual election day. So here, not the same place.

Most judges are very, low-key when it comes to any "platform" they have. And they better be too 'cause in Ohio, judges are (supposed to be) non-partisan. The only real research you can do is look at cases and how they ruled.
Same here. I want an "I already voted, quit bugging me" button to click !

Interesting. I presume this is the same place that you normally vote too ? In Ohio, early voting only takes place at the county board of elections location.

I get up to 2 hours of PTO to vote. With driving, it took an hour...

Dropped vote by mail ballot at city hall drop box. Checked my stub online vote is accepted and ready to be counted. I showed all ID and proof when registering. So simple no line no people.

There was a lot of early voting here, but I didn't as the booths were closed after work. So I voted on election day, a saturday as always here - tracer app at the door, sanitizer, supplied my own pen, walk in walk out, 10 minutes max.

I’ll say one thing, I’m at the point of being sick and tired of seeing every website and sign reminding me to vote. I’ll remember thank you, just like every other time.

The wife went to Victoria’s Secret yesterday. They put a “vote” sticker in her bag. 😂😂😂

This voting thing I think I can understand, but the early voting – is early voting more of an american virtue and higher value or more of an accidental? It must be apolitical, so much I could find out.

My view may be unpopular but I view early voting as giving advanced warning to the opposition so they have an idea of how many ballots need to “be found” come recount time.

My local early voting site was 120 people deep when I went by yesterday.

We did the ballots at home and I took them to the courthouse.

It was actually a nice way to vote. Some of the judges I could look up and see what they've done and are about. It was nice to be able and sit down and take the time to decide on a state senate candidate too.

I chose to vote early this year.

I've always been a vote on election day kind of guy.

This year, one daughter has been quarantined twice due to exposure, (both negative tests), the other with presumed symptoms and also a negative test, but quarantined until the test results were back (along with the rest of the house). My wife works in a school too.

All that in the last month.

I asked myself, what if we were quarantined election day?

So I voted early this year.

Not sure of how it's done where you are, but the results of the early votes are NOT published anywhere. I'm not even sure when they're counted - as soon as rec'd, days/weeks ahead of election day, on election day (not likely given the volume).

My county has multiple locations that allow early voting and I can go to any location in the county to vote. I'm not sure how they do that - maybe a printer to produce ballots as they're needed? It might not be practical to have over 150 different ballots on hand at each location. Some of the locations are bigger than others.

They aren't open until the Thursday before election day though.

I voted weeks ago via mail. I am part of a group that has went out across the country to provide transportation and other assistance for voters in need. My buddy is in N. Carolina right now and another acquaintance headed to Wisconsin yesterday to help. My schedule has precluded me from going out of state but I have hauled about a dozen folks into town for registering and early voting.
I'm thinking we are headed for an all time record turnout this year of about 160,000,000 voters.

Illinois is not in play, so for the presidential election, the die is cast here.

Now some other issues may or may not be in play, such as a state Constitution amendment. But I believe even that seems to have a fair bit of support and will likely pass.

Votes aren't counted except in a supervised controlled area. No one is manufacturing votes or hiding votes. Ballots are sealed until in the secure counting area. No one knows who votes for who until then. Ballots have to be completed on election day either in person or by postmark. It's not a new thing this year, voting.

There is a tracking system for many states so you can see if your ballot was counted, as evident by Wemay’s post earlier. Combine this with available voter party registration databases, you have the ability to say XX% Party ZZZZ registered voters have voted early. This gives parties enough of a rough estimate to know how many more votes they have to manufacture, harvest, or invalidate.

If you don’t think voter fraud is a thing, you are sadly mistaken. Election Day voting is the safest way to ensure a fair election.

Got my absentee ballot filled out. Just need to drop it off at the clerk's office.
I requested an absentee ballot for the first time, and got it last week. Yesterday with it all filled out I went to drop it off at the Registrar of Voters office on my side of the river. Usually with Early Voting at that location there's no delay. This time, a line of about 30 people ran down the block.

I went around them and asked the deputy at the door as she waved the next batch of voters in, "Where is the drop box for absentee ballots?"

To my astonishment, she not only waved me right in, she didn't say a word about my needing a face diaper. She checked my ID, nodded, took the sealed ballot off to the room where they check your ID against the voter rolls, and was back within a minute. "All set, sir. Thanks for voting." Now that's how to do it!

The Sec. of State's website says that you can verify online that your ballot has been processed. I'll check later this week.
