I just waxed my BLACK '80 Firebird FORMULA on Sunday 6-5-11
I did it in the sun! The smearing wax was only a bit difficult to remove while drying but nothing crazy hard! The car looks briliant, it really does!
I should have done 2 coats on the top portions(hood, roof, trunk) as this wax leaves no white wax residue anywhere or in any scratch/stone chip. Waxing in the shade would have been easier but really, it wasn't that hard for my aging arms/shoulders.
A second coat may have had an edge over the first coat. This E1GW has brought out some of the dullness on the rear plactic bumber cover that has been there for 30+ years. This isn't fading paint, it's paint that never really shinned well from the factory. And I have tried many things short of wet sanding/polishing, mainly because there is a factory 3 tone red stripe between the Black and Charcoal paint border.
I like this E1GW for this application but not for all app's. Doesn't seem to last very long like real wax/silicone but, for this car and my others too, I'll keep using it as it does make the paint feel just "clayed" and waxed...Real smoooooth!
I won't be providing any newer pic's because they won't do the car any justice. The pic that I do have here at BOB's, shows my car paint looking great and there was a ton of dust on the car when the picture was taken. The car now looks even better than the link provided below. This pic was taken Fathers Day 2010, almost 1yr ago.
